Hot Water

Help! I have no hot water!

There are many reasons why you may not have hot water. It could be the fuse, element, thermostat or pilot light. It can be easy enough to replace a fuse yourself, but for everything else, you’ll need a licenced plumber. Give us a call today and we’ll get your hot water back on.

What’s the best hot water system for me?

This will depend on your hot water needs. Family size, usage, the orientation of your home and budget are all factors to consider. If you’re not sure, give us a call and we can recommend the system that will suit your needs. We aren’t loyal to any particular hot water brand so we can make sure the product and price are right for you.

What are the benefits of solar hot water?

Using the sun’s energy to heat water will lower your hot water bills and reduce carbon emissions. However, the position of the solar panels is important as you need direct sunlight and solar hot water can be more expensive to install than electric or gas. If you’re not sure if solar hot water is right for your home, call Joe to discuss your options.

What’s the difference between gas storage and continuous flow?

Gas storage hot water systems use stored gas to heat water. A pilot flame ignites the main burner when hot water is needed. Tanks of either natural gas or LPG are located outside your home and vary in size from 90 to 300 litres.

Instantaneous gas hot water systems, also known as continuous flow, only heat water when required. Water is heated by a gas burner as it flows through a coiled pipe called a heat exchanger.

What are the benefits of electric hot water?

Electric hot water systems are very popular, and you can understand why — they’re inexpensive to install, require very little maintenance and are cheap to run.

What is a heat pump?

A heat pump is a hot water system that uses a compressor (like the one in your fridge) to convert ambient air temperature into energy. Heat pumps are very energy efficient and well suited to the Blue Mountains climate, working well in temperatures as low as -5°C.
